Contract award for Lucas Heights Nuclear Reactor
The Australian Nuclear Science Technological Organisation (ANSTO) has appointed A J Mayr to undertake an intricate piping project at its Lucas Heights facility near Sydney.
A J Mayr General Manager Brett Arnold said the assignment, known as the Replacement Research Reactor Project, involved the fabrication and installation of piping systems.
"Nuclear technology requires the highest levels of quality and reporting, so to be entrusted with the project is very satisfying for all of us at A J Mayr," Mr Arnold said.
"Our systems and procedures are designed to meet the highest levels of quality and documentation and ANSTO is now currently using our systems and procedures as the benchmark on site."
It was not the first project undertaken for the nuclear facility by the company.
In 2002, A J Mayr was commissioned to fabricate and supply 30 process tanks and vessels for ANSTO.
AJ Mayr is an international fabrication and construction company based at Tomago, near the port of Newcastle in the Hunter region of NSW.
It has successfully undertaken major projects for customers across Australia and internationally.
