A J Mayr works on Spencer Street Station development

A J Mayr Engineering has played a major role in the construction of the architecturally award winning development of Melbourne’s rail transport hub, Spencer Street Railway Station in Melbourne, Australia.

A J Mayr constructed, supplied and installed spine trusses for roof sections of the project, known as the Spencer Street Station Redevelopment Project. It involved 48,980 man hours.

“We were commissioned to undertake the job by Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd, with the State Government of Victoria as the principle customer,” A J Mayr General Manager Brett Arnold said.

“We did much of the work at our Tomago headquarters and shipped it to Melbourne by sea barge. Using barges for major projects is extremely efficient, and we have barge loading facilities within just a few hundred metres of our yards.”

A J Mayr is an international fabrication and construction company based at Tomago, near the port of Newcastle in the Hunter region of NSW. It has nearby access to the Hunter River.

It has successfully undertaken major projects for customers across Australia and internationally, including assignments for the Australian Nuclear Science Technological Organisation (ANSTO) at its Lucas Heights facility near Sydney and for BOC Pakistan at its Port Qasim facility in Karachi.
