Kumar Perumal Chairman
Kumar Perumal is the Chairman of AJ Mayr Engineering. He took over the company in 2001 as Chairman and CEO. During the following years he was responsible for the strategic direction and development of the business. He helped grow AJ Mayr to become the largest privately-owned design and fabricating company in Australia. Mr. Perumal began his career working in Sri Lanka as a chartered accountant, rising to chief accountant for Lankem Ltd which was part of the Shell Group of Companies. He later accepted an expatriate, chief accountant position for the Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines in Africa. Following 10 successful years in the copper mines he was head hunted by Bookers of London to take over as CFO of Pelwatte Sugar Corporation, the largest sugar manufacturer in Sri Lanka. Migrating to Australia in 1997 he worked as a Financial Consultant and acquired AJ Mayr in 2001. He has overseen revenue increase from $6 million to in excess of $25 million dollars per year.
With nearly 40 years experience in business management in Australia and internationally, he has given his senior team the leadership and encouragement to secure and deliver some of the largest contracts in the company's 38-year history.
Nilhan Perumal Chief Executive OfficerNilhan Perumal took the position of Chief Executive
Officer of AJ Mayr in early 2007. He has sat on the Board of Directors
of A J Mayr Engineering for some time and was previously an executive
Director.
Holding a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Commerce
from the University of Sydney, with majors in Finance, Economics and
Applied Mathematics, Nilhan has overseen business administration,
strategic planning, growth and alignment strategies within the AJ Mayr
group of companies.
Nilhan has a focus on developing key
alliance and joint venture agreements with international and national
business partners, as well as refining operational processes with a
view to laying the foundation for the company's growth. He is a member
of the Institute of Company Directors and also sits on the board of
Wearalloys Pty Ltd.
Harry Cumar Group Executive DirectorHarry Cumar has more than 30 years experience in
finance, administration and general management. Prior to migrating to
Australia from Sri Lanka in 1984, he was on the Board of Directors of
the Whittall Boustead Group of Companies and the CEO of their hotels,
printing and packaging and IT businesses with responsibility for nearly
500 employees.
In Australia, Harry has held several senior
positions in both local and multi-national entities. He was the Finance
Director and Company Secretary of Deloitte Consulting, Head of Finance
and Corporate Services of Homebush Bay Development Corporation
(developer of infrastructure and sporting facilities for the Sydney
2000 Olympics) and Head of Group Administration and HR of Kumagai Gumi
(developer of land mark projects, including the Sydney Harbour Tunnel,
Chifley Tower, Melbourne Central/Daimaru Shopping Centre and Hyatt
Coolum.). Most recently he was Group Accounting Manager of Australian
Pharmaceutical Industries (a listed public company with annual turnover
exceeding $4 billion). Prior to these roles, Harry held accounting
positions at Brown Boveri (now ABB) and AV Jennings. He joined the AJ
Mayr group of companies in May 2007.
Harry is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (Sri Lanka), a Fellow Chartered Management Accountant (UK) and a CPA.
Sean Hurdman General Manager
Sean Hurdman started as the General Manager of A J Mayr Engineering in July 2008. Holding a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Hons) degree from the Queensland University of Technology, Sean has over 20 years experience in the engineering industry. Sean also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Deakin University.
Sean has worked in a diverse range of industries including Defence (Engineering Officer - RAN), Medical (QA, Production and Test Engineer - Telectronics), Shipbuilding (Production Engineer, Ship Project Manager - ADI Minehunter Project), Vehicle Manufacturing (Production Manager - Varley NSW Fire Brigades Fire Trucks) and Production/Fabrication (Operations Manager - Johnson Screens).
Sean brings a wealth of experience from these varied industries with a common thread of effective project management. As General Manager, Sean's major focus is to bring together all aspects of the business to ensure customer's safety, quality and delivery expectations are met.
Scott Slater Group Financial Controller
Mr. Scott Slater is the Group Financial Controller of A J Mayr Engineering. Holding a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Financial and Management Accounting from the University of Newcastle, Mr Slater is fully qualified Chartered Accountant.
He joined the company in 2004, bringing with him experience in the accounting industry in Australia and internationally.
With more than seven years experience with Coopers & Lybrand/ PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Slater has proved himself in his field of expertise. Mr Slater has Chartered Accounting experience in Canada, the United Kingdom and in the mining and mining services industries.
Addam Wells Projects Manager
Mr. Addam Wells is Group Operations Manager of A J Mayr Engineering. Holding a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Wollongong, Mr Wells has over 18 years of experience in the engineering industry.
Addam brings with him, 10 years experience from Transfield Limited where he was in charge of projects that ranged from the Anzac Navy Frigates Project, Port Headland Expansion Projects and major telecommunication projects for Hutchison, Samsung and Lucent Technologies.
Addam has been an integral part of our company for almost three years, starting as a technical engineer, proving himself, to move quickly up the ranks to the group operations manager.
Andy Davey General Manager - S.A & N.T
Andy Davey joined AJ Mayr in March 2009 as Business Development Manager responsbile for expansion of the AJ Mayr operation into South Australia. Andy holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Birmingham, UK and has thirteen years of international engineering and business development experience.
Andy joins us from Leighton Contractors where he held the position of Business & Project Development Manager. Before this Andy worked for a German engineering organisation, Durr, which saw him working in many countries globally on a wide range of industrial and process construction projects. During his career Andy has worked extensively on strategic acquisitions and growth stategies and delivered projects in the Automotive, Aerospace, Construction, Water Treatment and social infrastructure.
With a well grounded background in engineering and project management coupled with his business and project development skills, Andy brings a wealth of experience to AJ Mayr to drive an expansion of our business into the South Australian market."
Alex Crivoi General Manager - PT A J Mayr Indonesia
Alex Crivoi joined AJ Mayr in January 2009 as General Manager for the newly established Indonesian operations in Surabaya. Alex holds a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as further studies in Management, with 20 years experience in engineering, manufacturing, sourcing and general management.
Alex worked in a variety of industries in Europe, Australia and Asia. He held positions of General Manager for the largest manufacturer of fuel tanks for trucks in Australia, General Manager (operations) for Arlec (Aust) in Malaysia, Operations Manager for a JV operation in India supplying Indian Oil Corporation.
Alex brings along his knowledge and understanding of Asian culture and business with a strong customer focus, open management style and building teams with a strong can-do attitude. He is a strong believer in developing win-win partnerships with customers and suppliers. Alex's role is growing AJ Mayr in the Asian region in the scope of sourcing as well as developing a world class design and drafting centre to serve Australian and international customers.
